The results in Tx / Rx emerged following the radioelectric tests on Gomedia 2 are excellent
The latest update described the conclusion of the electrical and mechanical integration of the antenna.
Of course, it was still too early to say victory since the radioelectric tests had to be carried out, but given the performance of the twin antenna, installed a few meters ahead, a few months earlier, optimism was a must.
The last day of "on site tests" ended today.
Our team of technicians, projected towards the constant acquisition of new multidisciplinary skills, has enriched its experience with the alignment of reflector panels, an operation that until yesterday was outsourced and which in the future, thanks to the results achieved, adds a further to the mosaic tile.
The fine tuning of the optics has given great results with an antenna efficiency that reaches 86% of the theoretical.
It wasn't easy to hide the enthusiasm and satisfaction. Smiles of satisfaction filled the entire square and eyes turned towards the place where the installation of Gomedia 3 has begun in these days, simultaneously with the final stages of the Gomedia 2 tests.
The gratification of the result gave our installation team an extra boost to complete the assembly work of the third antenna.
The procedures governing all assembly processes appear to have a stable solidity.
The pedestal is already in place, in its plinth. The MDU panel, functional to the movement of the antenna, was housed inside and the azimuth motors and the jack for raising the reflector were arranged in the turret, the top part of the pedestal.
The hub, inside which the rack that will house the equipment has been mounted, has been placed horizontally and the 16 ribs are being mounted on it, connected to each other by the bracing.
The 1,628 bolts that close the basket will be screwed up to the tightening torque and checked several times, to validate the rigidity of the system and to be able to continue with the positioning of the reflector panels. Operation preceded by the assembly and positioning of the quadripod.
It is hoped to complete these tasks within this week, before the holidays.
What could limit the achievement of the objective is only the uncertain weather, as there are general conditions of instability over Sicily with scattered rainfall.
On return, the reflector alignment operations are programmed.
